Kennesaw is the only town we cover that two interstates both serve directly. I-75 reaches it at exits 269, 271 and 273; I-575 reaches it at exits 1, 3 and 4. The two roads separate at the wye interchange a few miles south, at exit 268, which puts Kennesaw immediately north of the point where every vehicle bound for Cherokee County and the mountains has to commit to a lane.

The town itself has been there considerably longer than the roads. It incorporated in 1887 under the name it uses now, having previously been Big Shanty, and its southern approach runs along the 2,965 acres of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.
