Almost everyone who calls us about a Douglas County collision describes where it happened using an exit number, and a good proportion of them get the geography wrong in the same way. Douglasville's own I-20 exits are 34 at Bill Arp Road, 36 at Chapel Hill Road and 37 at Fairburn Road. Thornton Road is exit 44 — and exit 44 is in the Lithia Springs and Austell end of the county, about ten miles east of downtown Douglasville. Both are Douglas County, so the venue answer does not change, but the distinction matters for finding the right crash report, the right responding agency and the right camera.

The county is growing quickly — Douglasville is adding population at around 3.5 percent a year, the fastest of any city in our area outside Cherokee — and the court is not growing with it.
